... Ever since I was a baby, my hemoglobin has been slightly low. My mom was told to increase my iron rich foods. However, out of all 8 of her children, I was the only one with this issue. My childhood/adolescence was spent always feeling tired, getting headaches, and feeling detatched and out of it. I always seemed to suffer with vertigo, though I just learned of what... (6 replies)
... how you feel. I have been suffering from exhaustion and anxiety for a few years now. I have severe claustraphobia and have gone through periods of agoraphobia too. The doc just put me on antidepresants. ... (4 replies)
... Hi. I have been "lurking" for a few days and decided I wanted to actually participate in this group. I have already read a lot of posts that answered many of my questions. The biggest concerns I have right now are not about treatment but about "coping" until I begin to feel better. I am hoping someone who has "been there, done that" will be able to offer me some... ... Is not treating anemia/low ferritin dangerous? Will prolonged and untreated anemia cause any damage to the body that cannot be reversed? Is there any chance that anemia/low ferritin will resolve itself without treatment? I found out I was borderline anemic/iron deficient almost two years ago after complaining I still felt unwell weeks after a bad chest infection. The... (5 replies)

... My dr's office just called me back with some of my test results. All she said was that I need to increase my iron levels and she suggested I take Ferris Gluconate every other day for a week or so and then slowly increase to 4 pills a day. She also suggested that I contact my GYN since I have extremely heavy periods. My dr told me last week that the levels were... (2 replies)
... I just got a call from my dr with my test results. I didn't hear any of the exact numbers but he said that I was definately anemic and that my levels were low enough to cause the symptoms that I've been having (exhaustion, headaches, feeling cold, nausea and stomachaches, feeling like my heart is racing a lot, and feeling very shaky). My dr said I definately need some type... (5 replies)
... Hi, I was diagnosed with anemia in December of 2007. I had a hemoglobin level of 7. Hemocrit 33. B-12 = 252. I had been in decling health for sometime, but it was gradual, and I had explanations (or so I thought) for the symptoms I was having which included: Dizziness, shortness of breath, forgetfulness (really bad!) confusion, hair loss, and most of all... ... cutejenny77--What does your doctor that ran your labs say about your numbers and supplementing? The only things that I can speak to are the values that are associated with anemia. Your B-12 is on the LOW end, I wouldn't call it deficient until you go below that mark. However, If it were me, I would be supplementing with sublingual drops of B-12 Methyl form of cobalamin,... ... I'm new to this, but I have read something about acid blockers (antacids) affecting the absorbtion of iron. That is worth discussing with your doctors. Also, my ferritin is 7, but I am not anemic. I am taking an iron supplement and the doctor is doing further test to find out why my stores are so low. I have had no problem with thinning hair, but I have been suffering... (7 replies)

... cal community pulls out the red cross and makes sure to find it no matter what! With women it's "all in our heads." It really is outrageous! I know I've been anemic for a very looooong time and only one dr. actually took it seriously and started the search. I never realised I didn't have to feel this way!!! ... (10 replies)
