... Yeah, well there's the 64 million dollar question. Why am I anemic? I first discovered I was anemic in Feb. of 2007 in the ER after a ruptured ovarian cyst - the rupture had nothing to do with the low hgb/hct (hgb was 8.3), it was a fortuititous find. No ideas why, did all the GI work up, even capsule endo and nothing. Have battled this with Hemax (iron supplement) for the two... (7 replies)
... I don't think that you are needing the Venofer right now either, not as long as you are able to tolerate oral supplements and will be eventually filling your iron stores. Good for you! ... (7 replies)
... Ok, go figure - got my labs today & my Hgb is 13.3/ Hct 38.6!! These were 9.3 and 32ish in Feb and I've not been taking the oral meds very regularly. Hmmm... strange but good. I may hold off on the Venofer although my Ferritin IS only 5 & should be 10-291. Ugh, decisions, decisions. (7 replies)

... I know what you mean, I too have this pain but mine is not very severe and it's gone now. I've had gallbladder issues before so I am attributing this pain to the gallbladder. A surgeon told me that because the gallbladder is not directly attached to pain receptors, you get pain in the darnest places like in your back. If you are concerned just call up the nurse and double... (15 replies)
... IV Benodryl, etc. first, of course. Then the actual Feraheme took maybe 3 or 4 minutes to administer. It was just in a push syringe that they hooked up to my IV line. Then I just stayed for observation and saline! ... (5 replies)
... ments to no avail. It was finally decided that I either had an absorption issue or I was unable to hold the iron and I needed to see a hematologist and consider IV iron infusions. ... (15 replies)
... how low was your ferritin before you started infusions? my doctor told me on Monday that they'd need to submit everything to insurance first and because of Christmas it would take a few days longer to get an approval. honestly, I would've started the infusions that same day if I could've. I just want to feel better already :( (7 replies)
... have 6 more to go. The first one I had a little muscle soreness and upset stomach. Since then I have been fine. Before the infusion they give me Tylenol and once IV is started I get Benadryl and steroids in the IV. I only have one good vein so that is starting to get old. ... (7 replies)

... Hi everybody, I really need an answer but I see that board is not so active:( I'll try anyway. I'm anemic for years. As I know at least for 8 years. Ferritin nearly always below 5 and hemoglobin sometimes normal, about 10-11 (when ferritin is 5) and most of the time about 9.
