... Hi! I just got blood work done that shows MCV and MCH to be slightly elevated and calcium slightly low, but everything else in the normal ranges. I can't be anemic if my RBC is within normal levels, right? ... (1 replies)
... Hello Recently for the past 6 months I have been doing full blood counts regularly and without fail my MCV is 100 so I put myself on multivitamins and bring down to 98 but it is still on the high side, my haemoglobin is normal (around 13) and RBC counts on the low normal level for example 3.8 to 4.0 that is when after I attempted to take multivitamins daily. Before that, my... (1 replies)
... Hi there. I'm new here. I have had a consistently elevated MCV level on blood work averaging 98 for the last year. ... (0 replies)

... I just took a blood test and my family has had a history of anemia. Here's the numbers: WBC 6.6 (4.4 - 10) RBC 5.8 (4.2 - 5.2) Hemoglobin 12.6 (12 - 15) Hematocrit 40.2 (36 - 45) MCV 70 (83 - 98) MCH 21.9 (27 - 34.5) Is it possible that I have thasselemia? or is it because of a diet-caused iron deficiency? ... Well seems like my last IV iron is working. Ferritin is now over 70 and Hgb 14. But last test comes back with: MCV 102H (80-98) RDW 15.6H (11.7-15.0) everything else was in the normal rang Even with elevated hgb and ferritin, still feeling dizzy, brain fog, and tired. The thing that is worst for me right at the moment is the forgetfullness. My mind goes blank when I am... (4 replies)
... I just had my blood drawn to check on the levels. Previous tests from 8 months ago: B12 324 (211-911) (2007) B12 424 (211-911) MCV 98 (80-98) Vitamin D 20.7 (40-100) Ferritin 30 (10-291) I took Vitamin D 50,000IU twice weekly but my calcium level went too high so I was switched to 5000IU D3 daily. I started taking 5mg sublingual B12 and managed to get that number... (10 replies)
... I have been searching for something concrete to show my doctor with regard to "low" B12 levels and I found it. It is an algorithm which indicates that after B12 testing folic acid should be measured and if it is normal and B12 levels are between 100-400 then serum methylmalonic acid and homocysteine levels should be checked. It says if either is elevated, a b12 deficiency... (7 replies)

... Hello, everybody!I would like to ask a few questions about my mother's iron deficiency anemia and I would appreciate any responsible help. My mother (74) was diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia about a month ago.She has had a lot of its symptoms (fatigue, sleepiness, hair falling, heavy breathing). Her blood test (4 December 2012) was as follows: HCT:28.7 (37-47) HGB:8.4... ... Hi, I'm a bit confused by some recent test results. I've been anemic a few times before: several times as a kid, once before I was diagnosed with celiac, about a year ago (while I had some severe period bleeding), and now (not bleeding so much anymore). A year ago my lab results were: RBC: 3.87 (4.2-5.10) L Hemoglobin: 12.6 (11.7-17.1) Hematocrit: 36.8 (38.5-45.0) ... (3 replies)
... Your MCV and MCH are just very slightly low and probably not low enough to warrant any concern unless they persist in being low for several months or begin getting much lower. For what it's worth, 5% of the healthy population will exhibit readings on a CBC panel outside of the normal range on any given day, so it's entirely possible that these minimally low readings are... ... I guess my MCV is just normally high. I am sure the doctor will say all is well and the fatigue and multiple other symptoms is all in my head. ... (7 replies)
... The MCV is getting up to that upper level a bit to much and the ferritin is to low even though they in the normal parrameters of testing............ ... (34 replies)
... I was given a blood test and everything has come back normal apart from my MCV levels which were 'near normal' at 96.3. My doctor said this was probably caused by alcohol, but I don't drink. ... (0 replies)
... Bone marrow bioposy of a year ago did not indicate anything after several years of mild MCV elevation and the symptoms described above. Feet started a bit of tingling and pins and needles the last few days. ... (0 replies)
... Hi Hoppy! :) It looks like you've taken matters into your own hands. I don't blame you for wanting to have all these tests done. I find that doctors tend to order the same tests over and over. I read that it is actually cheaper to run a whole panel of tests than just a single one. Hard to believe, isn't it? Managing to stay on top of things with multiple medical issues... (89 replies)

... Recently I was told that my B12 was low. The range on the blood test said 200-1100. My B12 was 180 which is just slightly off the low end. Is it that bad?? I am not B-12 deficient myself. I can tell you that a friend of mine is B-12 def. and also has IDA. She has many of the same symptoms as I do even after her IDA is in check and her B-12 is somewhere around 500 now, but... ... Also, I read somewhere that MCV less then 85 is a potential sign of internal bleeding. Is that also right? ... (2 replies)
... Hello, I am 38 years old. I have known that I was anemic for a long time. Back in 2011 I went through a period of heavy menstrual bleeding, along with a UTI that landed me in the hospital. I received 2 pints of blood, and was sent home with my iron at 11 and my hemoglobin at 9. I can't absorb iron pills due to weight loss surgery, and they cause severe stomach pain, along with... ... I got my results back recently. The testing was done as ENT couldn't figure out why I'm having lump in throat issues. He thought it was reflux and gave me a PPI which was useless basically. Anyway, so now we're one step in a concrete direction finally and I can hopefully figure out what to do next and find a more helpful doctor. Results seems somewhat normal (I'm only... (3 replies)
