... People become anemic for many reasons. Seems yours is from the gastric bypass which is not uncommon for people that have had this done. ... If you were taking iron for anemia, it takes about 3 months of continued supplementation to rebuild your iron stores in liver after your Hct and Hb are back to normal. Some people don't absorb it well and will get anemic again when they stop taking it, especially premenopausal women who are bleeding monthly. (3 replies)
