... kbessy--Many people do report that they feel better after beginning B-12 shots and then a decline. This is very normal. I think that you are supposed to be off the B-12 shots for 2 weeks before you test the B-12 serum, as you know, it skews the results. I don't know what your numbers were and how long you were taking shots, (only one in 6 weeks?), but it takes a while to... (4 replies)

... I was wondering what your serum b12 was? and what other tests you had which pointed to pernicious anemia. Usually in order to raise a low serum b12, a series of IM shots is given. The protocol varies, but usually a number are given in the first week, then weekly, then monthly or every three weeks. The important thing is that you try to raise your serum b12 to well over... ... I wouldn't depend on "just injections", especially if it's cyanocobalamin (hydroxocobalamin is better choice). Sublingual methylcobalamin is a much better choice along with dibencozide (adenosylcobalamin). At least 1000 mcg taken daily....it WILL raise your B12 levels. It's raising mine.....no shots. I take 3-4 mg of dibencozide and 2 mg of methylcobalamin daily. ... (31 replies)
