... I have been facing a lot of the same thing, and I ran into the same skepticism when I mentioned the PPI as a potential cause, because after just about every other test with no other bleeding found, my period was the only factor left they would consider (I will admit it was an issue, but it had been all my life without the anemia) - and given that my HGB was down to 8.8 - and... She was the main caregiver for my dad, so we now have stepped into that role also. I guess I am telling you this, because the stomach distress I am feeling I think is because of the... (15 replies)
... Many people have stomach irritation and don't know it. When I went in for my colonoscopy, I asked my doctor to do the upper GI just because I had been taking Prilosec for so long for acid reflux. Now, acid reflux does not cause bleeding but I just wanted my stomach looked at. ... (11 replies)

... The information I've seen says that alcohol increases iron absorption, but I suppose the volume of alcohol consumed could be an issue. ... Hello and Welcome although I'm sorry that you have had to join us. It is a little unusual for a young male to be diagnosed with IDA so it is good that your doctor is scheduling the colonoscopy. ... It could be that those particular iron supplements just don't agree with you. Sometimes the types of binders they use in slow release pills can cause nausea issues. You may want to try a regular type of iron I remember when Prilosec first went over-the-counter. I had been taking it just fine in its prescription form. When it went OTC, they changed the...
