... Yes, H-Pylori is a bacteria known to cause ulcers and gastritis in the stomach. This bacteria causes inflammation damage to the stomach cells and can prevent/impair the absorbtion of vitamins and iron. FLFLOWERGIRL:) (14 replies)
... Can H. Pyloria cause low b12 and low ferritin? ... (14 replies)
... The Vitamin D wasn't mentioned as being caused by H pyloric as I took another test to find that out along with magnesium low levels, I think I had to pee in a bucket for a few days then bring it to the lab! I have forever a malabsorption with B12 since I lost the intrinsic factor but I have been maintaining injections every two weeks to keep it up reasonably. If my lab comes... (14 replies)

... Nancy, I have a huge list of symptoms and the only thing that the doctors came up with was gastritis, diagnosed through endoscopy. The GI doc did the finger prick test for H Pylori and said I was negative. As I struggled through subsequent doctor visits, thanks to my own research, two things have come to light. Low B-12 and low Vitamin D. I also learned that there are... (14 replies)
... Most of the time it is just a special blood test, it's very specific and handled very differently than other blood tests, called the Schilling test! Sometime a bone marrow aspiration if the Schilling isn't conclusive! I don't recommend having the bone aspirations, it hurts like hell! But if ya got to have it ya got to do it! (14 replies)
... I think that it is a simple blood test to test for IF. Yes, anything that causes damage to the cell lining of the stomach can cause you not to effectively make IF. I think that it would be from long term damage but I don't know that for sure. FLFLOWERGIRL:) (14 replies)
... how do you know if you lack the intrinsic factor? Does H. pylori cause this? Let me know. Thanks for all the great replies. (14 replies)
... My B12 took two years of injections every week before it came up and it never has been up much above what they call normal level. My pernicious anemia is not stable so I go in every 6 weeks for blood level and continue to give myself an injection every two weeks, better than everyday like it was for years. Has a lot to do whether you are just low or whether you no longer have... (14 replies)

... Most definately, a bout of gastritis because of H pyloric I ended up with a malabsorption disorder with B12 and Vit D. So I'd keep a watchful eye on it because B12 absorption has everything to do with the "gut" if you lose the intrinsic factor needed for absorption you'll end up with injections like I have been doing for over 10yrs! ... My mom is 74 which makes a bit of a difference to begin with. She started out with gallbladder symptoms and was going to have that removed. It was during her consult for that she told the doc that her stools had changed and he sent her then for a CBC and her Hgb was 13 but she runs around 14 something. So she had lost a little blood but nothing bad. They then put that SX... (14 replies)
... I am on 3 antibiotic in the am and same for pm. I also started a probiotic so I don't kill all bacteria. Just to feel better again would be great. I am on b12 shots weekly since my b12 was 280. my joint pain is better but I still have bloating and ab pain. I s this what happened to your mom? I have 1 more week of antibiotics and I don't feel great. I will need to rebuild my... (14 replies)
... I think that depends on what type of B-12 you are taking how much and how well you absorb it. It does take a while and depends on how low you are. My friend has been working on this (with shots), for a year now and she is around 500 was 155 I think. I know that when you have to take the antibiotics for H-Pylori it can make you feel like crap. How many times a day do you... (14 replies)
... Thanks for the replies. I am on antibiotics and still feel no better. I bet my b12 is still low. How long until b12 will go up again? (14 replies)
... H Pylori does drain the B-12 out of your system. I had it three years ago, and I got low on B-12, so I had to have weekly and then monthly injections for a year. I just had more bloodwork done and my B-12 level is low again, so I have to go back in for another round of injections. As far as ferritin count, I was low before the H. Pylori so I don't know how much that was... (14 replies)
... That H-Pylori can get some people quite bad and more people have it than is known. My exhusband had it and didn't know. He self diagnosed himself and told me that he was bleeding internally and i just thought he was exagerating. He ended up as white as a ghost and would have to sleep most of the day and night and would only get up to eat. When he would eat he would be... (18 replies)
