... My blood tests over the past 3 years have shown low-to-borderline RBC (4 - 4.2), normal MCV (93-96), and borderline-to-high MCH (32-33). Is there a kind of anemia that could cause this? My latest blood tests however show this: July 9th 2012: (pre-surgery) RBC - 4.20 (normal: 4.2-5.2) NORMAL MCH - 33 (normal: 27-31) HIGH MCV - 93.8 (normal: 82 - 100) NORMAL Ferritin... (3 replies)

... Hi! I just got blood work done that shows MCV and MCH to be slightly elevated and calcium slightly low, but everything else in the normal ranges. I can't be anemic if my RBC is within normal levels, right? ... (1 replies)
... Hello I replied in your other thread :). Lows in MCH & MCV usually indicate anemia, they are smaller then the average number and aren't carrying the oxygen they should to your cells, organs, etc. Combined with the high rdw this would most definitely indicate an anemia problem. Did you happen to get your iron saturation, iron serum, and ferritin numbers checked. With anemia... (1 replies)

... Hello everyone, I had some blood tests because I've been having gastric problems. Everything is in the 'normal' range apart from these. I'm guessing they're not too far out if the range to matter, but just thought I would check Eosinophil count 0.0 x10^9/L (0.04-0.50) "Low" Red blood cell (RBC) count 3.91 x10^12/L (4.0 - 5.5) "Low" Mean corpusc. haemoglobin (MCH) 33.7... ... I just took a blood test and my family has had a history of anemia. Here's the numbers: WBC 6.6 (4.4 - 10) RBC 5.8 (4.2 - 5.2) Hemoglobin 12.6 (12 - 15) Hematocrit 40.2 (36 - 45) MCV 70 (83 - 98) MCH 21.9 (27 - 34.5) Is it possible that I have thasselemia? or is it because of a diet-caused iron deficiency? ... I think it's a normal thing. When I was anemic and as my lab reflected it was a long, long process getting to that point, my RBC's were consistently normal values. However, my Hgb was 8.5 and my ferritin a 2, so I would say it is normal. That has been my personal experience. Now, when there is a simple iron deficiency anemia present, your labs with look like this: CBC... (12 replies)
... There are cases where the body will over-produce red blood cells, but they are small, poorly formed, and do not accomplish much in the way of oxygenating blood. (3 replies)
... I just got my son's recent bloodwork back from the doctor, and I am confused because most of his levels are the same indicating anemia but his RBC count is high and out of normal range. Is this possible? ... (3 replies)

... hematocrit took a nosedive recently. Heck, my RBC were better during chemo! I really don't understand the role Ferritin plays in all of this. Vit B12 looks fine. So does iron. ... (7 replies)
... In the past 10 years, I have always a high RBC (6.76 X10E12/L) (normal value 3.5-5.8 X10E12/L) but HGB is always normal, 141 g/L (normal value 105-160 g/L). The doctor once suspected Thalassemia but the analysis could not confirm it. Now the doctor has no any idea to suggest. I was wondering if anyone of you has a similar abnormal values. Derived from these RBC and HGB values... (0 replies)
... Kk, I read that when I first woke up and didn't see any of the conversion stuff and was wondering. I can't read anyways.:) I guess I'm just used to seeing them in the other way. Anyways! Glad you got some answers. I was wondering myself! :D Ferritin with just oral iron therapy seems to take forever to go up. Mine was a 2 to start and I'm at a 19 now. I got in for more labs...
