... Maybe my original post was too long. Here are the main details of the situation. Can anyone lend some helpful information? ... My blood tests over the past 3 years have shown low-to-borderline RBC (4 - 4.2), normal MCV (93-96), and borderline-to-high MCH (32-33). Is there a kind of anemia that could cause this? My latest blood tests however show this: July 9th 2012: (pre-surgery) RBC - 4.20 (normal: 4.2-5.2) NORMAL MCH - 33 (normal: 27-31) HIGH MCV - 93.8 (normal: 82 - 100) NORMAL Ferritin... (3 replies)

... Hi! I just got blood work done that shows MCV and MCH to be slightly elevated and calcium slightly low, but everything else in the normal ranges. I can't be anemic if my RBC is within normal levels, right? ... (1 replies)
... Hi, I'm a bit confused by some recent test results. I've been anemic a few times before: several times as a kid, once before I was diagnosed with celiac, about a year ago (while I had some severe period bleeding), and now (not bleeding so much anymore). A year ago my lab results were: RBC: 3.87 (4.2-5.10) L Hemoglobin: 12.6 (11.7-17.1) Hematocrit: 36.8 (38.5-45.0) ... (3 replies)
... Hello I replied in your other thread :). Lows in MCH & MCV usually indicate anemia, they are smaller then the average number and aren't carrying the oxygen they should to your cells, organs, etc. Combined with the high rdw this would most definitely indicate an anemia problem. Did you happen to get your iron saturation, iron serum, and ferritin numbers checked. With anemia... (1 replies)

... and rbc. I asked my rheumatologist to measure my retic to see if I'm making enough....nope. When my RBC count us abnormally low, so is my retic count. I was sent to a hematologist because my neutrophils dropped to 890, for further investigation. ... (1 replies)
... RBC-7.03 high HGB-14.4 normal HCT-44 normal MCV-62.6 very low MCH-20.5 low MCHC-32.5 low RDW 18.8 very high I'm honestly confused by the data above. I feel the symptoms of anemia despite my erythrocyt (1 replies)
... Yes, an elevated MCV does indicate either a B12 or folic acid deficiency. At 430, that's sorta iffy. ... (1 replies)
... I just took a blood test and my family has had a history of anemia. Here's the numbers: WBC 6.6 (4.4 - 10) RBC 5.8 (4.2 - 5.2) Hemoglobin 12.6 (12 - 15) Hematocrit 40.2 (36 - 45) MCV 70 (83 - 98) MCH 21.9 (27 - 34.5) Is it possible that I have thasselemia? or is it because of a diet-caused iron deficiency? (1 replies)
... I think it's a normal thing. When I was anemic and as my lab reflected it was a long, long process getting to that point, my RBC's were consistently normal values. However, my Hgb was 8.5 and my ferritin a 2, so I would say it is normal. That has been my personal experience. Now, when there is a simple iron deficiency anemia present, your labs with look like this: CBC... (12 replies)
... There are cases where the body will over-produce red blood cells, but they are small, poorly formed, and do not accomplish much in the way of oxygenating blood. (3 replies)
