... Any transfusion OR infusion is RISKY business. Your question how many is too many, is a good question. I am no expert but I do know that you can have too much iron build up in your body and this causes problems. Blood transfusions are also a risk if your body has a reaction to it. ... I can only tell you my own personal reaction to Venifer - it made me feel great, and returned my iron levels to above normal after 5 of them (once a week). I also got rosy pink cheeks after every transfusion (the doctor thought I was imagining it, but I wasn't). (13 replies)

... but back to the infusion it was still very scary but they were great to me and answered all my questions. They started me off with the iron slow to test me to see if i'd have a reaction to it and i didn't so they went ahead and did it also they monitor you closely so if anything happens they are trained to treat you. ...
