If you eat meat in your diet and eat a healthy diet, then the low ferritin can't be from your diet, but can be due to malabsorption of nutrients in your diet due to any number of reasons. ... ... You both need to have more iron intake and watch your labs. I have cut back from 300mgs of elemental iron to 150 daily and I hope I am passed 41 ferritin by now. I would love to go back to the higher dose and build my stores faster, but I think that I would begin to overload. ... (8 replies)

... Your post is so interesting because I am acting total opposite of you with the thyroid. For example, my thyroid has never once gone hyper and it was at the high normal range under 3.0 for the entire year that I was on 300 mgs iron supplements daily and held it's own. ... (9 replies)

... I'm sorry to hear this. Why would it drop? :confused: Is it because your previously starving tissues/organs have started using up more iron? Or can it be the results aren't accurate?
