... I just talked with my primary again and she said my B-12 levels are in the low end of normal, but on some scales would be just out of the normal range. So I'm going in tomorrow to get a B-12 injection and I'm not sure how many I'll end up having. My question is, can you end up with too much B-12 through these injections and what would be the side effects of that? I know... (5 replies)

B 12 questions

... You are quite welcome. The other question I failed to answer is if the B-12 is a customary test and it is not. It is a more expensive test and is not a routine one unless the symptoms that are being addressed warrant the test. The types of things that the B-12 test would be run for are: an unexplained low white cell count, low red blood cell count where the cells were oddly... (19 replies)
... flowergirl--Sorry:o! It takes years to deplete B-12 stores, 2-5 I believe, this is from memory;). You are on the low end of normal and definitely will benefit from replacement therapy. ... Hi Alexi. I live in Ontario Canada and they are very easy to find over here. It sounds like they may be more hard to come by over in the U.S.A. I've heard that health food stores carry them or you may have to get them on-line. ... Littlebunnyfoo--When I was first Dx: Without any supplements, my Folate was >20.0 range 4.2-19.9 and my B-12 was 835 range 243-894. With prenatal supplements, my Floate hasn't changed at all, it is still the same >20.0. I wanted to raise my B-12 even more due to neurological symptoms that I started having. It is now, 981 range 243-894. You can't get too much B-12. ... (14 replies)
... I have been told by my hematologist, that the body will dump any unneeded B-12 and that as far as they know there are no adverse effects of too much B-12. What you need is stored in the liver and the rest is eliminated. The one type of B-12 may be absorbed better for different people. So I think that your Doctor was telling you that it is ok to take both (2 replies)
