... It was really wierd, back in August of 08 I started to drink this liqued B12 that we got from a weight lifting/vitamin place. The first week was like magic. I felt my energy go up a bit. Then the second week I was right back where I started. I'm also taking a vegetable based vitamin line that is suppose to be better absorbed. For three months they had me taking 50,000 units of... ... Now that absorption is much better my iron is creeping up, UIBC and TIBC both going down. Ferritin was up 4 years ago, and has been creeping down. Perhaps lower Ferritin is associated with hashi as suggested. ... (21 replies)
... The confusing thing is this. My UIBC and TIBC are both low, yet I do not have high iron and certainly not high ferritin. ... (1 replies)

... On May 31st, I had iron labs and CBC run. They showed iron deficiency and anemia. B12 and folate were also checked, and they were normal. Hemoglobin 9.9 (11.1 - 15.9) Hematocrit 32.0 (34.0 - 46.6) MCV 74 (79 - 97) MCH 22.9 (26.6 - 33.0) MCHC 30.9 (31.5 - 35.7) RDW 16.1 (12.3 - 15.4) All other CBC values were normal. Reticulocyte count was 0.6 (0.6 - 2.6). Here... (6 replies)
... I think you have anemia. I can't stress to you enough that even though your ferritin is showing as normal it's on the low end. That number won't shoot straight up either. Take months and months of iron therapy to build it back up. I have been on iron for 8 months and my OB informed me I still need to take it for at least another year. My ferritin started at a 2 and is now a... (1 replies)
... The ferritin was normal as was the TIBC and UIBC but the others are low. ... (1 replies)
... I was diagnosed with IDA in July due to having gastric bypass 5 years ago and not supplementing. I've been taking 250mg elemental iron and 3 Proferrin for 8 weeks now. Actually I've been taking 300mg elemental a day for the last two weeks, but it took some time to work up to these levels so 250mg is about average. I wonder if these results are about typical? My Hemoglobin and... (1 replies)
... My hematologist (who I see yearly for follow-up on a rare cancer-like blood disorder) noticed that my platelets have been low for some time and checked my iron levels back in October. When he checked them the first time, my iron was 80, TIBC 630, UIBC 550, and SAT% 13 (he didn't check my ferratin), but my hemoglobin and hematocrit were normal. Three weeks later, my iron was... ... ong with me. So I got a copy of the results but im finding it hard to read them. What I understand from my research is that if your iron is low and tibc high and uibc high and ferriton low you are iron deficient? ... (9 replies)
... Since the concern was high iron and high Transferrin and low UIBC and low TIBC numbers look better, although I know most people on the anemia board are trying to go in the other direction. ... (21 replies)
... My hematologist ordered the following bloodwork: FE(Iron) 155 high, (range 35-150) one month later 101 UIBC 48 low, (range 126-382) Calculated TIBC 202 low, (range 250-450) Transferrin Sat 77 high (range 15-60) B12 1200 high (range 208-964) Has been at this number for 5 years Several docs were asked about this one and are not concerned. Ferritin 28 (range 5-204)... (21 replies)
... Wow - I think I've found my twin. My lab results are very similar to yours and I have the same symptoms as you, so I'm looking forward to seeing a reply regarding the possible causes of low RBC, low WBC, low hemoglobin, low hematacrit - yet iron, B12, ferritin, folate, transferrin levels all are normal (never heard of most of this stuff). I was also checked for Celiac and... (3 replies)
... Hi All, I'm new to the board. I've been a long-time reader and have been through many of the old and new threads. I'll try to keep this as short as possible :). Like many of you, I have experienced many symptoms of anemia. (Fatigue, muscle aches, heart palpitation, hair loss, hypertension, etc...) My old Dr of 8 years always said I was "slightly anemic", but never... (3 replies)

... Hello Friends, I had my blood work done for the first time and I've been diagnosed with Iron Deficiency Anemia. I'm Male, 32 yrs of age & physically active. Also, I think I may have been iron deficient since a long time. My 'Ferritin' & 'Iron % Saturation' is really low. However Hemoglobin & Hematocrit looks okay. Isn't it contradictory? I thought if I'm anemic, my... (11 replies)

... I've just had some blood results come back and I think its saying I have a mild iron deficiency but I'm not sure because the TIBC isn't raised. Also I expected my RBC to be low not high. I'd be interested in any advice anyone can give me. Is this an iron deficiency or something else (e.g. chronic illness)? Haemoglobin 142 (120-150) *HIGH* RBC 5.26 (3.8-4.8) *LOW* MCV... (0 replies)

... Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I've tried to do some research on my own, but I am at a loss. I will start out by saying that I had a baby back in April 2014 at which time my other labs were within normal limits except for my Hgb and Hct (7 and 24 I believe). I recently followed up with my primary care doctor for symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath... (1 replies)
