Hi Jeff, nice to see you here.

Your symptoms are classic of anxiety and even panic. Are you still using zoloft? SSRI anti-depressants do not work for me. I take ativan and occassionally klonopin for my anxiety and panic. These might work for you, they work for most people. Or you could try valium, but I must warn you, you will probably have severe ataxia and balance problems for the first few days of trying valium. Or drowsiness and mild ataxia with any other benzo. Lots of people have bad experiences with XanaX and sometimes experience delirium, confusion and hallucinations on them. But everyone is different, and that is what makes us so special :)

I don't have much faith in SSRI's unfortunatley. Most people I know with panic disorder have very little success with them. I hear Effexor is good though, and sometimes even an atypical anti-psychotic like nozanine. My doctor is putting me on that soon.

Like you, I constantly worry about my health. Pain in my chest is a heart attack, tingling in my feet is a seizure, etc,. Do you FEEL lumps when you touch your throat? You should get that checked out. There's a difference between feeling a lump in your throat and physically feeling one when you examine your neck.

A combination of medications and CBT (especially CBT) are supposed to be helpful. I'm starting CBT in Febuary and I can't wait.

Good luck Jeff and let us know how it goes.

Thanks -- no, I haven't taken Zoloft in a long time. Not taking anything now, although Effexor has been suggested by some (it is supposed to help the fibromyalgia as well).

As far as the lumps go, no I don't feel any physical lumps (neither did the ENT), it is just the sensation.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but what is CBT? I am guessing that the T stands for Therapy, but other than that, I have no clue.

Thanks for the response -- it helps to know someone else has had the same experience.

Jeff
