 Billy, Thanks again for your reply. I can't tell you enough how confident I get that I can do this after reading your posts! Don't get me wrong I do think it's going to take some work considering it took years of my old way of thinking to get as bad as I am now. I can't wait to start reading the book. This cbt thing, is just hard for me to grasp(like what is it?) I mean really...what do you have to do that makes people stop the worry cycle? I have a feeling my doc will be changing my med. The 20 mg of lexapro does not seem to be getting it. She also said to try to think of something comforting when the worry starts and try to quit with the "what ifs"- Easier said than done, right? Some many people like my family says things like "you have too much time on your hands, not enough to do" Makes me wonder if they are right, or is this really a medical problem that I seriously do need help with. All I know is I am tired of worrying about tomorrow and what if something bad happens...I want to live for today! Anyway I am going to try really hard. Thank you so much for your encouragement and your quick replies...I look forward to them! :)

Hi lbp35-
You seem to have the proper attitude to help yourself and get well :) I'm thrilled that you find my notes encouraging :bouncing: You do hgave some work in front of you but I know tyou can do it and soon you will look and be glad you put in the effort as I think and hope it will change your life like it has mine and if you keep using the tools it just keeps getting better in my experience :D
In a nutshell CBT is a series of tools that help you learn to interupt the worrying thoughts that are upsetting you and replace them with counter thoughts that are more objective. Over time and with practice your innaccurate thoughts will be replaced with accurate thoughts and your worries will begin to dissipate
I'm here for you if you need me  All I ask is that when you are feeling better you alert others to the virtues of CBT :p

Take care!

Billy
