I agree about Buspar doing no good for anxiety. It is a big a waste of money for me to even pick it up at the pharmacy. Your results may differ but Ive known quite a few who had the same experience as I. Xanax instantly takes away the anxiety and lets me not worry about every detail of what Im doing. Eventually after using for some time it quit working for me. I dont need it now but if I did I wouldnt use it more than once a day. Its hard to get addicted if you dont use it often and use low doses like 0.25 or 0.50 mg (1/4 or 1/2 mg.). Of course there are many variables so your doctor should be the judge of what dose will work for you. There are many new anti-depressants that have anti-anxiety properties. The SSRIs like Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft work very well for some people (but can lower ones intrest and ability in sex). There are some newer anti-depressants that can work very well without as many side effects. This drugs are not addicting. My own experience with Prozac is that it helps the depression and really improves the anxiety. Its not a euphoria like Xanax but its just a calmed down (not much anxiety) feeling that it gives. :D
