Thanks a lot for replying. No. I'm not on any meds. I wish I could say I was. So far I've held back taking Lexapro presribed by my doctor. I can understand why she resists the need to do a CAT scan or MRI just to rule out other possiblities. I have no doubt that anxiety affects me, but I'd like to narrow it down futher just to be sure. I've had thyroid tests done, and host of othre blood tests. But that's all. Doc wants to try Lexapro almost to prove as a diagnostic tool that it is pure anxiety. Actually, she said as much less than a week ago. Isn't it reasonable to not want to go on a mind altering drug unless it is proven absolutely necessary and all other possiblities are ruled out? She seems so very certain that anxiety is the whole cause. Yet other illnesses do come with anxiety as part of the package.

Well, I've been down the med route and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Issues down the line like tolerance, deregulation of brain receptors, side/adverse culmative effects, dependancy, etc. can get pretty ugly.

I had a long recovery but am glad I tolerated it because I'm feeling very well now; I shouldn't have been on drugs in the first place but doctor insisted and they are supposed to be right. Well, no, they have no idea if anyone is deficient in any neurotransmitter or even have any standard or way of measuring that so they just drug people up.

That might be acceptable to some but I didn't want any long term damage to my brain so when I read up on some experts and doctors who had a different view and the science to back it up, I decided meds were not for me.

I think you should get a second opinion, go to a doctor for a complete physical and maybe a neurologist too if you would like.

Anxiety and stress can cause alot of things but sometimes merely changing lifestyle(exercise, good food) and eliminating sources of stress(if possible) do wonders!!!

Milk. I've found drinking the recommended 24 oz a day brings a noticable change in calmness and sleep. Guess it's the tryptophan and carbs(which convert to serotonin) or something.
HiI am sorry about the spasms they arent fun ,Yes anxiety can cause them and the more you tend to focus on them the longer they seem to last.
Anyhow has your dr tested you for everything to rule out some other disorder?
I went to a local health food store and boght tere brand of Bcmplex ad it has seemed to help alot..Also do you smoke ?I have cut down from a pack in a half to about 1-2 cig a day and noticed my axiety is alot less and so are the spasms also I eat 1 banana aday if you are lacking that potassium spasm s tend to come also.
Yes I agree about meds I will not do them Unless absolutely nessaccary like a ibuprofen for a headache=).
Hope this helps and Good luck
Hi Jennita. Yeah, you and I think alike. {REMOVED} I found out plenty on a whole lot we are often told to take, and ought to watch out for. It's temping to simply up the dose of "natural" suppliments like vitamins. As a result of what I learned about the B-vitamins I'm cooling it on the B-complex for now and living with the above normal values provided by my multi. --At least until I can figure out my percise needs.

I eat pretty well nutritionally and get much of my vitamins from *******. My multi though is just a simple Kirkland from Costco. Maybe you get what you pay for. I used to have a friend that swore by Shaklee Vitamins. I'll definitely check out Twinlab.

I'm going to see a chiropractor and maybe a acupuncturist just to hear what they have to say. I know from experience that acupuncture does or can help. I've been a bit scared of chiropractors (mostly from not wanting to incur MORE pain). Many I've seen never go to a chiropractor just once. Know what I mean? One "adjustment" leads to another. I know...for good reasons. But still, I'm a bit spooked. Others around me think I should definitely go.

As I told cupidscat I just found out my brother struggled with the same things (most of them) before he was put on Topamax (sp?) I've got to avoid the meds. 1) I pay for most of my fathers's meds (he's in much worse shape after legal blindness and cancer, than I am) 2) I am self-employed and insurance where I live for the self-employed STINKS, pure and simple. These drugs, most of them, are name brand. 3) I frankly don't want to do the drug thing except as a last resort. It will be my white flag.

If a doc wants me to wave that flag now, I say it's too soon. I've been tested, and I want to be tested a bit more. Perhaps it is all that they say it is. Perhaps when it's bad it is just REALLY REALLY bad, and I have to accept that.

I know that despite having my complete metabolic pannel done three times, I want to get tested by a nutritionist for just the reasons you mentioned. Many of us are different in terms of our nutritional needs, and I want to narrow mine down so I don't overkill and cause problems. Seems with anxiety the system is sensitive and overkill is often felt in real terms. If I can teak things maybe I can get to a functioning level of health. I've got to. I have people depending on me.

This nurtition program you spoke of -- I wonder if they have something that complex available online for the rest of us. They might. And how have you learned to detect what is synthetic from what is not -- without them telling you, of course. That's handy info. I've also heard that digestion is critical to us getting the most out of what we are taking in. That as well as certain combinations of vitamins tend to help or cripple their intended effects.

Thanks REALLY for taking the time to share all of what you have. It's encouraging to see, feel . . . . especially feeling the way I have as of late. Hopefully someone else will benefit from this thread as well.
