Hi all, I would like to start by saying, that I feel for all of you and its not pleasant but here is how I won it over!

I suffered with anxiety for over two years, started at the age of 19 now 21 and what a difference.

It started when I was suddenly experiencing chest tightness, had all the tests done at my Dr and everything was ok, for some reason I didnít believe over 15 DR's over the period of 2 years that told me I was ok but had anxiety!

The main reason for this was lack of knowledge of what anxiety can do to your body, here is a list of symptoms I had but most beneficial for all you sufferers is how these symptoms come along!
(THIS HELPS YOUíRE WORRIES TRUST ME!)

In no particular order! Reason for symptoms indicated in ( )

1. Chest tightness (Tension and not breathing correctly i.e. shallow breathing this makes your chest muscles work harder and cause pain or tightness just like your legs after hard exercise!)

2. Palpitations *Awareness of the heartís functionality i.e. pounding, rapid and ectopics "Extra beats" (Over breathing, being aware of bodily symptoms and of coarse awareness of your heartís beating) its a case of what comes first the chicken or the egg, in this case its your conscious being more aware of what your body is doing.)

3. Dizziness and light-headed (I had both, dizziness was caused by anxiety attacks where I would freak and my breathing is speeded up, light-headedness is more frequent and more consistent and that is caused by tension in your neck and shoulder muscles which puts pressure on vital nerves in your neck which will cause the light-headedness!)

4. Digestive disturbance (Altered eating habits, when youíre anxious digestion is speeded up which in turn causes diarrhoea, and stomach cramps!)

5. Fatigue/Lethargy/Tiredness what ever you want to call it, ( This is caused by disturbed sleeping habits, eating habits lack of exercise due to being anxious of bodily symptoms, tension and breathing disturbances will be a big factor i.e. over breathing, too much oxygen too little carbon dioxide this will make you lethargic.)

6. Body pains (Neck, shoulder, back and head, this usually feels like tightness or sharp pain or even dull! This will be caused by tension).

7. Blood pressure spikes (When I used to check my blood pressure I would worry its high and that will cause it to rise, the more I worried the higher it was)

These were my symptoms and these were the reasons of them occurring, it took me all that time to realize their causes, but when I knew I managed to abolish them all just by ignorance, what I mean is if you feel pain in you neck or you are feeling light-headed just ignore it, try it, it works, suddenly the symptom disappears! Magic? No just ignoring your body will let your nervous system control your body parts and organs like they are supposed to. Best way of getting into ignorance habit is aerobic exercise specially running, it wasnít easy at first as I was too aware of my heart and when I started out my pulse would shoot to 150 or more before even starting the exercise, so just relax and build up every day, my first day was 10 minutes then add 5 minutes everyday, this is very good for fighting anxiety! Secret is not giving up it may take a few weeks or months but it works, try and avoid medication because that made me worse. Most of us whom are suffering with this minor but annoying condition are in fact healthier than most people so its ironic that we donít feel that way, but thatís the way it is, knowing is everything and thatís how I abolished it from my life so I can share my success with all of you, everyone here can do it just believe it and youíll be fine I promise!

PS anxiety will not harm you in anyway, just make life a bit more interesting :jester:

By the way I'm a 21 year old male from UK and i'm not a Dr and my advice is from experience! Good luck all :) :) :) :)

All that is true That all happend to me last year , the doctor gave me an inhaler for the shortness of breath but it made my heartbeat raise if i tooked two puffs which made me even nervous.

I have diabeties and arthritis problems so I take severel medicine including insulin so when my blood suger got low I would start shaking and my anxiety kicked in even worse. All that advice works. That song from Nelly its all in my head made me calm down a little bit at the time of anxiety :jester: Knowlege my my anxiety go
