First understand that your body reacts to alcohol because alcohol is a poison in your body and for the first part it does warm your body and you have that "short" escape.....NOW.....in the morning your body is going to react because of the poison and your chemicals are all going to be out of wack because the drinking depletes your body of nutrients it needs so then you will become a bit shaky and you will have more anxiety because the things your body needs has all been taken away from the drinking the night before. Also the night that you sleep while drinking you NEVER get into the REM sleep that your body needs. Your body needs sleep to heal itself but if your mind is not resting your body can not do it's job.
So to answer your question, drinking may take the edge off for a few hours but you will be paying for it for the next few days. Not a good idea if you really have anxiety. Find other releases with your friends, if they are your true friends they will be ok with you not drinking.
Your body reacts to what you put in it. Remember that. I personally take Lexapro and I love it.
