This morning I had a terrible feeling like I couldn't breathe- like I couldnt get anough air into my lungs. I went straight to the doctor and he told me I have "hyperventiliation syndrome" relating to my anxiety. I am already taking 1.5mg of clonazepam a day and he also gave me zoloft, but he didnt really advise me on how to deal with the shortness of breath, other than the paper bag over the nose and mouth trick. He did advise me to see a psychologist, but that doesnt really help me now! Does anyone have any ideas or things that work for them. The feeling of not being able to breathe is terrifying.

Well if you think it would make you feel better I would ask for tests to rule out things for certain as long as you can afford it and your insurance will cover it. I have had a lot of tests and they all came back fine sofor me it's really anxiety. Anyway I have shortness of breath everyday and I find that yawning helps to relieve it a bit. Also a good one is to exhale through pursed lips like your whistling or blowing slowly and as fully as you can. This will slow down your breathing and it helps eliminate the symptom a bit.
