Meds aren't so bad if you really need them. The first thing you should do is get diagnosed from a doctor. But it sounds like panic disorder to me. I have this. I feel EXACTLY the same way as you!! Flying scares the living crap out of me. And canceling plans cause of the nervousness and attacks is something I tend to do frequently ( when my anxiety is out of control)
So you know you can beat this without meds. I have. I was having panic attacks since the end of January until the end of february. I thought about meds again but I wanted to see if I could do it without and I did!! Alot of it for me is mind over matter. The more you feed into your fear the worse it is for you! You have to try and distract your mind from its anxiousness. Doing so you will see a huge decrease into it. Self help books are great.The more you know about the disorder the better. My favorite one is by Edmund Borne called Anxiety and Phobia workbook. There are so many out there though. I also tryed The Charles Linden Method and I noticed a big decrease in my anxiety with that. Once you grab a hold of it, It will be alot easier to handle. I am not afraid of it anymore. Panic attacks won't kill you.. Won't give you a heart attack.. Its just the flight or fight responses messing with you! I can't even begin to tell you how much your post sounds like me! Just know that I am doing better now and so will you! Keep thinking positive and don't go surfing the internet for all the scary symthoms you are having you will make yourself beleive you have all these crazy diseases when you really don't. Trust me.. I used to do that and scared the living pants off of me. Good luck to you and go see a doctor. The meds out there these days are very helpful. Its your choice to try and beat this on your own or with the meds. If your father is so against them don't tell him you are taking them. You are old enough now to make your own decisions!!
