My anxiety is worse in the early afternoon. Don't know why, that's just the pattern it seems to follow. Some psychologists would likely say that it's because we're subconsciously expecting the anxiety to follow a pattern, and psychiatrists would likely say it is because of the body's natural patterns. People with organic disease, such as gallbladder attacks, tend to be worse at certain times of the day. Perhaps it is a little of both for us.
I used to have the shakiness and anxiety upon waking, but then I changed my medication around so that I'm taking half in the morning and half at night and it really helped me to be able to wake up and start off the day peacefully. (The meds I'm referring to are a beta-blocker and Xanax XR. My beta-blocker is designed to be taken twice a day, and I take 2mg Xanax XR per day, so I got 1mg pills and I take one in the morning then one 12 hours later.) I know not all meds can be taken that way, but if waking with anxiety (or going to bed with anxiety) is a BIG problem, make sure to talk with your doc because there are some possible solutions out there.
