I did not have any trouble with Anxiety prior to May of 2006. For some unknown reason in mid-May I had my first ever panic attack. I was at work at the time and I was overcome by a tremendous surge of adrenaline in which my back, face, arms, legs, feet and hands all developed a strong burning or pins and needles sensation. The attack passed, but I continued to be in a heightened state of near panic for several days afterwards. After 3 nights of very little sleep and having difficulty functioning at work, I sought help from my doctor (a first for me). I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder coupled with Panic Attacks. I was treated with Lexapro and Klonopin. Within an hour of starting the Klonopin, the medication returned me to a near normal state.

Now, 5 months later, if I try to wean myself off of the Klonopin, the adrenaline rushes, muscle twitches, burning sensations, and insomnia return. I have resigned to the fact that I may to stay on a low dose of Klonipin (.25mg per day) for some time. Even while taking a small amount of Klonipin daily, I am still startled very easily. My symptoms are relatively mild compared to the troubles many of the people who post on this board are facing, but I hope that some day I will return to my pre-May 2006 "normal" self.

Hopefully my post was helpful to you. We are all in this together.
