Oh yea, there are plenty of us out there! Pure OCD is very common, in fact they are finding it is more common than all other forms of traditional OCD. I can tell you both though, that SSRI's and antidepressants did not work for me at all! In fact they made all of my symptoms worse. I never made it past a couple weeks on any of them. I have taken: Remeron, Welbutrin, Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, and Buspar. Buspar actually did help a little, but it was like fighting a dragon with a toothpick. Anyway, the only med that has helped has been Xanax. I have never taken any other Benzo's so I don't know how they work for our scenario, but the Xanax has helped me SO much. It takes away the anxiety. It does nothing for the thoughts though, so while your anxiety is at a low point, you can learn to dismiss the horrible thoughts that go through your head. I have used meditation to acheive this goal and it has also worked very well. Cognitive behavioral therapy is also a very good way to practice controling the thoughts and your physical reactions to them. Anyway, nobody is alone here and I hope you find your solution. If you do decide to take Xanax, understand that it is usually a long term solution. It will give you withdrawl symptoms if you stop, so if you take it, plan on taking it for a long time and plan on slowly tapering off over a long period of time if you decide to quit.

God luck guys.
