Re: Racing heart.
Nov 30, 2006
Cloverdaze, I totally know how you feel. I too found out that I had mitral valve prolapse at 19 and they told me that it was so mild not to worry. Well when I was 25 (I am 30 now) I was diagnosed with GAD and life has been a rollercoaster since. Right now I am having an especially hard time. My blood pressure is high (never has been) and they cannot figure out why. My heart races all the time too. And, yes, it is impossible to talk yourself out of it. I get so sick of people telling me to do that. They just cannot understand that I don't have control of it, or so that is how I feel. In fact, that is why I am up at 3 in the morning! I am supposed to go get another echocardiogram any day now.

Basically, I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone! My anxiety pretty much started when I moved away from my friends and family too.

I was just started on Lexapro and Ativan last Sat., so I have not had anything to drink. I pretty much go out every weekend. So, it should be interesting not to drink with my friends from now on. My anxiety seems to be really bad after I have drank too, so I look forward to being anxiety free (hopefully!)

Just know that you are not alone. If you ever need to talk, I am here for you. :p
