I have always been plaqued with anxiety ,but last night in the middle of the night I woke up with what I think is a fullblown attack. I've never had it that bad before and I was scared I was having a heart attack. Here's what it felt like. First my heart was racing and none of my techniques for calming myself were working ( i.e. square breathing ,meditatation) I have tendinitis in my left elbow and shoulder so they always hurt ,but last night it was more pronounced. Then I started getting a tingly feeling and a coldness all over and felt like I was going to faint. Let me tell you I was scared to death which i'm sure didn't help matters. I have an Rx for xanax that I rarely use .( 30 pills have lasted me a year ),but I took one ,and then hung my head over the side of the bed for about 15mins. The xanax kicked in and I was able to go back to sleep. So is this what a fullblown attack is like? I'd like some input because if I know what is happening to me I think I will be able to easier deal with it and not be so scared that I'm dying or something.. Thanks ,Kat

p.s. I'm 54 and menopausal which I'm sure has something to do with it.
