Re: Gasping for air

Dear Hurten,
Glad to hear you're in therapy but distressed that all the DR's want to do is give you tranquilzers. They are so addictive. I usually post on the addiction board due to a recent withdrawl from pain pills but I know that many people can become addicted to the tranquilizers. My grandmother was from age 60 something till she died in her ninetys. You don't sound like you're too fond of them so it's probably not a problem for you. I'm just surprized the DR's are so quick to whip out the prescription pad for those drugs. My DR is very into not prescribing addictive drugs. I do get *****n and clonazapam that I use sparingly as she only writes the scripts sparingly. Have you tried any anti-anxiety/anti depresants such as Paxil or Lexapro? They may be a big help. I was taking Paxil for a few yrs. DR switched me to Cymbalt for major depression and I did not realize how much the Paxil helped until I was switched. I've started having anxiety attacks (usually at work due to very stressful job) and hot flashes which I never had before, even though I had a complete hysterectomy 2 yrs ago. Hope you find relief in one form or another soon. Best wishes.
