Re: Cancer Anxiety
Feb 16, 2008

I have battled anxiety all my life, had most of the major anxiety disorders, and except for anxiety caused by real life situations, I have pretty much overcome it.

If I think something is wrong (bad chest pain lately, know how to breathe properly, it isn't pain from anxiety) I DON'T go on the internet. I don't want to know how I should feel if I have angina....if I do have angina, I want to get the real symptoms.

If I read symptoms of something, most of the time, I will develop them. It really complicates things. Doctor's hate it when someone walks in and says " I have this, and I read on the internet it could be cancerous." It got to a point, where my Doctor told me that I had to trust him....and I did. Then I got over the anxiety, and don't worry about it anymore.

Anti anxiety meds sound like a good idea right now. You might not be able to control this degree of anxiety yourself, even if you knew how. Your body and mind need a break.

I'm sure you will do fine.....let us know....

Good Luck
