You have to take something that will raise your seratonin levels not just recycle them so that you become dependant. Also, cognitive behavioral therapy will help you to get rid of the bad thoughts so they don't creep up on you. It is a process. I don't know if you have ever considered supplements that will increase the neurotransmitters but if you haven't, Neuroreplete was recommended by my doctor and I've been on it for 3 months. There are no side effects. It works by giving you balanced doses of 5HTP and ltyrosine (these work together to build up seratonin and other neurotransmitters). It's expensive but apparently if you take them separate they can decrease your dopamine levels so this supplement is the best form of it. My doctor is an MD and a DO (preventative medicine) and said it has worked for everyone he prescribes it for. Like I said I'm on month 3 and it has helped me alot. I spent a year and 2 months with bad bad anxiety (I couldn't work for 3 weeks and was leaving early with attacks) before I broke down and took something for it. I'm not ready to stop it yet and you have to take it for longer because it is in small doses of amino acids-don't take it in conjuction with your meds and make sure you are weaned off first.
If you try it let me know how it works for you. If you go back on meds good luck and try the therapy as it can help you. I also like "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Dr. Bourne.
