I just started Klonopin and Paxil 3 days ago. I have real bad anxiety everyday. I was taking Xanax prior to that but the doctor thought
I should switch to Klonopin. They are both addictive but Klonopin is easier to wean from. It does help alot, but not as well as the Xanex did. K-pin is much longer acting it just doesn't help me with all of the anxiety. But as I said this is only my 3rd day and I quit the Xanex cold turkey to take the K-pin.

As for paxil this is my 3rd day for it and I'm very hopeful in will kick in, in several weeks so that I can ween from the K-pin. I do not want to take addictive medication. I am hopeful with the paxil, because it did wonders for me a few years ago, with mood swings, aching muscles, and not being able to fall asleep. I did not have the anxiety then, or at least not what I have today with it.

I would say it is up to you, but for me i would rather find an ssri that works and stick to it rather than something addicting that the doctor may refuse to give you some day. I got pregnant 18 months ago and had to wean off the paxil. I had no problems. I took 40 mg once a day for about 3 years. So weaning time I broke it in half for 3 days, then a 1/4 for 3 days under a doctors direction to do it this way. I did not suffer the electric shock feeling in my head at all like I did if I missed two days in a row. I had absolutely no problem weaning off what so ever. I wish I would have started right back up on it after the baby was born. I went through alot of depression and weird thoughts until bam.........anxiety attack one day and my life hasn't been good since. I would discuss the pros and cons with your DR. and see what he thinks. All doctors are different. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide and how you make out.
