Doctors love prescribing Paxil first because they feel like it works the best. I've never really heard those sentiments echoed by the community of people using them, and as mentioned, the withdrawal is horrible. It has the shortest half-life (and Prozac actually has the longest), and the shorter it is, the harder it is to come off of it.

But feel free to give it a shot. It has all the same potential problems as every other SSRI, although things like Lexapro seem to actually be taken better. Just remember, if you do take it and decide to come back off of it, taper off of it as slowly as you can. That doesn't mean taper off for a week--literally, as slowly as you can. It took me about 2 months to get off of it without getting the brain zaps, and I was only on it for 6 weeks.
