Yes, i have had all the thyroid test done, along with lots of other test. I have been to the ER 3 times. Seen a lung doctor, heart doctor, GI doctor and family doctor. They seem to think it's anxiety, but Xanax does not help. Seems to help the chest pains, but not the shortness of breath.
Xanax is a very strong benzodianapine, but with a very short half-life. How many mg. and how often are you taking it? I resisted benzos because of all the horror stories I read of people who become "addicted". But there is a difference between addiction and dependence.

For extreme cases, you may need to take a longer acting benzo like Klonopin and you may need something stronger. Although, I think Klonopin and Xanax are eqivilant in strength, but Klonopin has a longer half-life. Meaning, it stays in your system longer and you will not feel additional anxiety from withdrawal.

Now, I know it is a scary thing to be dependent on these medications. But in my case, the alternative was extreme anxiety and panic attacks with zero sleep and shaking.

I can honestly say, I take Klonopin daily for anxiety and Ativan (medium strength and half-life) at night for sleep (along with Ambien). This bothered me for quite some time. But I realized that I have my life back and respect the medications I take. Meaning, I only take when needed. Some days more than others. But again, it is better than than the alternative.

I am almost 50 years old, but exercise daily and eat right. You would never know I was on these medications. You build a tolerance. But, they still seem to be working very well.

Take care and God Bless.
