GAD for 5+ years

I'm looking for advice from other long term GAD sufferers on what worked for them to reduce daily 24/7 anxiety. I'm a 34 year old male, 5' 10 190 lbs who has suffered anxiety for years with little to no success with medications. I am currently off all medications, because I feel like they did little to fix anything. I had been on Xanax a couple years back(6 months), Lexapro(1 year) and Wellbutrin a year or so ago.

My particular anxiety is a daily 24/7 feeling of head pressure(feels like I'm not getting enough blood flow to my head), erratic breathing, slightly detached feeling and general anxiousness that at it's worst feels like I'm on the brink of passing out and at it's best is always present and is an uncomfortable nervous feeling. The erratic breathing is one symptom, which has changed over the course of the 5 years from what I will call air hunger into an almost over breathing. The thoughts about the way I feel consume me from the time I wake up until I go to bed at night. Work meetings in particular are hellish and anytime I overdo it on drinks the night prior. My job demands a large amount of meetings, so there isn't away to avoid that, but I have cut drinking down significantly to avoid the day after anxiety.

In 2009 I had a battery of tests(MRI, Blood, Heart etc.) done to rule out anything serious. I have mild HBP and cholesterol, but my Dr. thinks this doesn't play a role in the way I feel. I was diagnosed with GAD and Panic.

My question is two fold.

1.) Are there other sufferers out there with 24/7 anxiety? Similar symptoms? and if so, any success stories?

2.) Is it possible these feelings aren't anxiety and potentially something else?
