... lorazepam is a valium type med, anxiety sufferers rarely become truly addicted to these meds, despite what some say buspar is a tranquilliser of a different type that has been advertised as the non addictive alternative to valium type meds but this claim is stupid, IMO as buspar seldom helps much and is useless for panic attacks, also buspar needs to be taken every day... ... anxiety can make the heart bang and thud while beating at a normal speed IMO buspar is a not very good tranquilliser that takes about 10 days to become effective and must be taken daily any valium type med would help more and can be taken only as needed,ambien is similar a course of beta blocker meds would also help, ask doc try to ignore your heart and let it do... ... see the other buspar post, your med is buspar or perhaps a generic of it I havent read the other post but IMO buspar is a not very helpful med and often overpriced its a tranquilliser of a different type, needs to be taken daily and obviously inst helping you, try to get some valium which can be taken only as needed (2 replies)

... y medecine. It made me feel horrible. I would suggest therapy of some sort. I haven't tried it yet. I am not sure what effects of meds are in the long term. As for a night of drinking, I think any alcohol has an effect on eveyone, just some people experience effects especially when people have anxiety disorders. ... (6 replies)

Hi newbie :) Im older, 62 and a man! ativan and buspar are both tranquillisers but dofferent types, ativan is a valium type, buspar is mostly poorly thought of for anxiety, is often expensive and helps little anxiety sufferers sometimes do have severe reactions when starting an antidepressant med, some docs wont accept this as the drug companies seldom mention them... Hi Lojo, ask a pharmacist whether he thinks the problem is from the paxil, it may be from some other cause such as nervous diarea, a common problem you could swap to another paxil type med, there are many, and see how you cope buspar is a tranquilliser that helps a bit but must be taken every day, valium type meds can be taken only as needed (1 replies)
