... Abilify (technical name of "aripiprazole") is a form of atypical anti-psychotic that is primarily prescribed for bipolar mania and schizophrenia. However, the atypical anti-psychotics can be used for other conditions, usually when other "more common" medications for those conditions haven't worked. For example, my doctor recently started me on Abilify, even though I don't have... (6 replies)
... For abou the past four years I have been experiencing symptoms that every doctor I have gone to has descibed as "probably anxiety" after ruling everything else out. On a daily basis I deal with mood swings, lightheadedness, chest pain, sweating palms, mining sickness, brain fog, etc. Despite these symptoms I don't really ever feel like I'm worrying about anything in... ... I've been taking citalopram for around 8 weeks now, and I am not noticing any benefit. I've also got Lorazepam, which IS very effective, but not for everyday use and my doctor does not want to prescribe it any longer. One suggestion is to try a different SSRI, and two have been mentioned: escitalopram and paroxetine. I suspect I get to choose which one, although I have nothing... (0 replies)

... Yes, Yes, Yes, I also cannot take them. I just got off Celexa, and had tried Paxil in the past. They made me very sick, extremely anxious with panic attacks. Everyone is different. You might want to try to decrease the dosage so your body can get use to the med and lessen the side effects. (14 replies)
... Pynkett, hi. Everyone is different. I tried the trazadone 50mg while taking Celexa and it did not work for me (it does not mean it won't work for you though). I actually broke my Celexa into so I wound up taking 10 mg a day and the trazadone 50mg at night for sleep and that helped me to start sleeping. I finally just got off the Celexa and am taking the trazadone only at night... (13 replies)

... I think this is good advice. A lot of people swear by their anti-depressants for their anxiety, so it must work for some people. It's worth a try. I have tried Zoloft, Luvox, Prozac and Paxil. For me personally, I will never try another SSRI. The side-effects of feeling no emotion and not being able to have an orgasm, were bad enough. On Paxil I felt shaky, hot... (8 replies)
... I am not standing on a soap box and telling everyone to go on an SSRI but here is my opinion. People get treated with medication for many different diseases. Some of those meds help them and some of them don't. If you are feeling so poorly why not get a med a try. ... (8 replies)
... I've tried Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Zoloft, Effexor XR, and I don't remember the others. At that time, I was using a different doctor who prefered to rely soley on anti-depressants, and leave the benzos alone only because they were addictive. However, as the years progressed and I have learned more, that confused me because people seem to say that anti-depressants can have... (8 replies)
