Hi bride they are both valium type or benzo meds and in my opinion theres very little difference remember that any new med of this type may sedate you strongly, malkng you feel drunk until you get used to it xanax is specially promoted for panic attacks, and this promotion actually introduced many docs to panic attacks, they haddnt known what they were before xanax... ... my primary care doctor. I have seen a psychiatrist for this medicine in the past, and yes, they were much more liberal with the Xanax. I had to stop seeing the psychiatrist because my insurance no longer covered it. There is no reason a primary care doc should not be able to prescribe this. ... (3 replies)
