... lexapro is one of many prozac type meds, none are stronger than others although the dose of them sometimes needs to be upped to get them working docs of course should counsel about anxiety but many are too busy or lazy or simply dont know how to :eek: anxiety and depression are separate, some anxiety sufferers are also depressed, some not, you dont need to be depressed... ... just taking a smaller dose would help. I was given 20mg and have been breaking those in half for the 10mg. I guess I could break it into quarters for 5mg! ... Im my experience that medication made me incredibly lazy and apathetic - it was almost too effective because I did not have anxiety, but I also did not really care about anything at all. There are many medications out there, I agree to talk with your Dr, maybe another one will be a better fit. (7 replies)
... Here's the thing about drugs. Pharaceutal companys like money. They keep inventing new drugs, primary for money. Lexapro has been highly marketed and probably Dr.'s have been given incentives to promote Lexapro. Prozac I believe is from the 1970's if I remember correctly. ... (4 replies)
Zoloft or Prozac

... ssion. Weight gain was not a problem because of zoloft, my over eating was, and being lazy. I am 5'7, and weigh 140, so I gained about 3 lbs, it's well worth it. Lexapro was okay, but I still had some anxiety, and took it with diazepam, or lorazepam, and that's just to much pill popping for me. ... (8 replies)

I was recently diagnosed (although I knew it months ago, but was afraid to reach out) with anxiety and have been prescribed Lexapro.
