Zoloft or Prozac
Nov 1, 2007
... hi, I have been on both of these meds, and many more. I have tried, effexor, paxil, wellbutrin, prozaz, lexapro, and zoloft, 1st, and now last. Of course everyone is different, but I do like zoloft best, at first, it's somewhat tiring, however, it was worth it to me, it eases my anxiety, and depression. Weight gain was not a problem because of zoloft, my over eating was, and... (8 replies)

... Hello! New member here. I just wanted to tell you all I've been browsing the board for a while and I found most of the messages here so reassuring, it's such a great feeling to read about people who are going through similar things as I am, almost like medicine :-) My quick story: I'm 25 yrs old, have had anxiety and depression on and off for the past two years (mostly... ... Yes, I was in a fog 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for almost 2 years. It never eased up; I never had "good" days. It was hell for 2 years. You cannot give up on the tablets. You cannot have taken very many different meds if this has been going on for 14 months. In order to truly judge whether a medication will work or not, you must give it at least 2 months and preferably... (99 replies)

... Not sure about the others, but 5mg is a pretty "standard" dose of valium. Valium comes in 2mg, 5mg and 10mg tabs. 5mg 3 times per day is a regular dose, not high, not low. If it's for anxiety, has your doctor tried you on lorazepam (ativan)? I only ask because I find it much much better for anxiety. Calms me down more, and makes me less drowsy. Also, it only gives you... (6 replies)

... I am a firm believer in both psychology and medication. The problem is, it's very difficult to psychoanalyze yourself, and try to change how you handle stress while you feel like absolute crap. Meds get rid of that so you can focus on those things. SSRI's are usually the best idea for ongoing anxiety. Effexor is one commonly prescribed for anxiety (The one I used), Zoloft... (2 replies)
... Lorazepam (Ativan) and clonazepam (Klonopin) are both benzodiazepines, a type of anti-anxiety medication that works as a tranquilizer by increasing levels of GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) in the brain. Klonopin is most often used for more severe cases of anxiety, that and Xanax. I've been on both Ativan and Klonopin. Ativan didn't do a damn thing for me, but Klonopin has... (3 replies)

... Hi sayNOtoanxiety Wow, you may not be a doctor but you sure hit the nail on the head when you suggested that it might be IBS because I actually DO have IBS! . In fact, Irritable Bowel Syndrome runs in my family and my mother has it really bad. The only thing is though that I did'nt think an IBS attack could last this long (3-4 days) or have all of the symptoms I... (4 replies)
... Hi, I take a form of ativan (lorazepam). I only need 0.5 to 1mg once in awhile. I haven't had any side effects from it, which is a miracle for me, but it's probably because I don't even find I need it within a months time. I use it for anxiety, and very occassionally as a sleep aid, too. I haven't found myself to be addicted to it. I take it only when I really need it, though... (2 replies)
