... Hello from a newbie! On top of my medical issues, I have terrible anxiety. I asked my doc for xanax and he was concerned about me taking it everyday plus the fact that so many people have been abusing it. He just didn't feel comfortable. All was not lost tho. We had a serious discussion and together, we decided I would do best (for now) using Lorazepam, generic for... (9 replies)
... Thanks for your replies. Please don't take offense, but I'm a little confused by the comment about SSRIs not being addictive. People are constantly saying how hard they were to get off and the side-effects they get in trying to get off of them. I guess it all depends on what you can tolerate. What works for one doesn't work for another. You guys have a great day and... (4 replies)
... How many of you use this with success? I have been on it since February 05 and it has made a tremendous difference in my fatigue, sleep, and dizziness. I have tried other things too. I CANNOT take antidepressants. They make me so dizzy. They just don't agree with my body. I have tried amitriptyline, Celexa, Zoloft, and trazodone and they all give me that headachy, dizzy... ... I was DX'd with anxiety disorder + panic attacks on Jan. 30th. My shrink said I should take 1mg clonazepam in the morning and 1mg clonazepam in the evening. So far, it hasn't worked very well and I find it exhausting and my muscles are weak. Also, I'm depressed :( since taking it. I'm thinking of calling and asking for lorazepam, which doesn't have such a depressant effect. ... (5 replies)

... or 2 mg doses. But benzo's aren't for long term uses. It's a temporary relief when things get really bad. If you're having panic attacks daily, or daily anxiety problems that you can't deal with, you probably need something more long term like an SSRI. ... (10 replies)

... I am not a doctor but I am very clearly seeing separation anxiety, "transplant shock" and general insecurity. What I would recommend is asking your doctor for a light sedative like Lorazepam or Xanax XR (Buspar, long-term if it continues) until you feel more comfortable with what is going on in your life right now. This is based on past experiences of my own over the past 14... (7 replies)
... Hi, I've been posting here for quite some years... and have found everyone here really helpful :) I've been having really bad anxiety attacks for the past 5-6 years and last night I had one that was completely unbearable. I stopped breathing for a long time, I woke up to find drool-snot all over my kitchen floor. I was too ashamed to call anyone, so I DIDN'T, but now I... (1 replies)

... cess. Once this drug gets a hold of you it's very hard to get off of it. It wouldn't be so bad to become addicted to a benzo because they really work wonders for anxiety suffers but most doctors never want to keep you on it over a month and they start weaning you off of it. ... (6 replies)

... Benzo's are great short term (and some people say long term) solution for anxiety/panic attacks. The chances of having side effects are much less than in antidepressants, and they work usually within 30 mins. I take ativan (lorazepam) occaisonally for the same reason even though I'm on antidepressants. Good luck, Jeff (4 replies)
