... <--- NOT a medical professional! lol I'm on Zoloft and from how I understand it (from my psychiatrist MIL and nurse friends) that the problem with drinking while on these medications lays in two place. 1) The liver, where they are metabolized. You can do some serious damage with alcohol alone, but then when you mix it with drugs that can do damage by themselves, you... (4 replies)
... I have suffered from generalized anxiety and social for about 2 years. I am thinking about taking Zoloft because i have heard such good things about it but there is only one thing stopping me.... ... (4 replies)
... I recently started Lexapro which is a relative of Celexa & yes, I had nausea and increased anxiety. Both have gone away now. Did you switch right over from the Zoloft or taper down & then switch? I tapered down to a low dose of paxil and then added in Lexapro & then gradually dropped the paxil. I still had a period of time where I felt like I had no meds working in my body... (4 replies)
... No problem Foxii, I think the best method is low and slow on any SSRI. That is low dose and slow titrating, often with a Benzo on board to mitigate side effects for the first month or so. I found Klonopin very helpful as far as a Benzo, less sedating than Xanax and lasts longer throughout the day. Xanax is great for anxiety, I reserve it for only a few times a year when... (6 replies)
... mg. I'm now on 200 mg and feeling great, like I did when I first started taking it in 2003. I still have anxiety, panic attacks, and OCD, but the Zoloft does help me a lot. ... (3 replies)
... paxil this week... i'm easing on it starting on a quarter pill of 20mg tablets, and in a couple days boosting it up to a half a pill. My question is, is 20 mg a low dose, especially a half a tablet of it? ... (1 replies)

... Buspar is great for me. I'm on a relatively low dose and others take a much higher dose. There is no withdrawal if you forget and no craving for it. It's just "there". ... (5 replies)
... Definitely add some low dose xanax. I started with .25 then increased to .5 as needed. Depending on your level of anxiety you may need a higher dose. ... (4 replies)
... I was on Zoloft for years. It took me a little while to get used to having a drink or two with it. I'm pretty small as well. Maybe 110 lbs and 5'6. I was on a low dose of only 50 mg at the beginning as well. Over time I felt fine having a couple of drinks. Just take it slow and see how you feel. ... (4 replies)

... I had the exact same side effects with Celexa, which is very similar to Lexapro. It was horrible, I had panic attacks, adrenaline rushes all thru the night, and terrible stomach upset, so bad I could not get off the couch. I could not eat, sleep, or think. After enduring this for 5 days, I stopped taking it. I had very minor if any withdrawals, just some dizziness, but within... (5 replies)
