... ing and everything. If you look at anything closely menough you WILL see flaws. The problem is we are always looking closely at ourselves! Part of the disease of anxiety and depression is that we think if we are "perfect" everything will be the way we want it to be. ... (9 replies)
... Hi Monky- I remember reading that in the Burns book and I think he said for some it would fade in a few minutes but for me it took many many tries before I began to be able to let some of my perfectionism go. The anti-perfectionism chapter was probably my favorite one in the Burns book, but I had to read it and practice what it preached many times before I made much progress... (9 replies)
... That's quite interesting, I never knew that was why we have to run to the bathroom when we're nervous. Thanks. (11 replies)

... Monky- I could not have said it better myself :D This is exactly why I recommend them in that order all the time :bouncing: Happy Holidays! Billy (6 replies)
... Monky, I have struggled with all of these things you mentioned in your notes. At first it is really hard to draw the line, but it does get easier over time :) Personally I would try and do as little as possible to get the labeling or whatever done (just to an acceptable/workable level) This way hopefully you will eventually begin to see that the difference vs. time invested... ... Monkyfunky- I am so happy and relieved to hear from you bro :bouncing: I was worried when you just vanished like that! I'm glad to hear you are continuing to make progress. ... Hi Monky, I actually just answered a shorter version of this query from you under another heading ('Is it possible...') Please see my response there and let me know if I can be of any further help to you. The short answer is I'm not sure, but I think it is still worth a shot. But please check my other reply and see if I answered the question to your satisfaction there and if... (11 replies)
... periods where I couldn't look forward to anything.. always feeling like everything would go wrong anyway. My doctor said was was suffering depression due to the anxiety etc... Anyway, things do improve. I feel a lot better recently, not back to normal but a little more hopefull! ... (7 replies)
... First of all, thanks Gracie!(and your doc is awesome). Monkeyfunky, but it is true. You are simply mixing up "dependancy" with "addiction". As you said, some people take them to "feel normal".....that's dependancy. Addiction is for the unusual, over-desirable, euphoric feelings. I don't blame you because dependancy and addiction are interrelated and I used to assume... (16 replies)
... Have you considered what the combination of E, alcohol & the zispin (? haven't heard of that med) can do to you? If you think taking E might have triggered your anxiety, why would you go back to taking it again? These are mind altering drugs, there is no way to tell what damage it may cause that may not show up for years. All prescribed meds for anxiety, panic &... (25 replies)

... it is used in some addiction recovery clinics quite effectively, but I think more for the purpose of keeping you from getting addicted again rather than straight anxiety treatment in those clinics. ... (10 replies)
... From what I have learned, and sometimes I feel that isn't much! LOL. You can breath as deep as comfortable through your nose. Starting in your abdomen and working up through your chest. Unlike the traditional way of chest breathing which is BAD BAD BAD! LOL. When you have filled your abdomen and lungs go at a gently slow pace (for yourself) and release the air through your... ... Monky- Deep, slow breaths from the diaphragm (sp?)... don't just feel your lungs fill with air, feel your whole torso, let your stomach puff out, etc.. (3 replies)
... Great advice Monky! CBT programs generally last 3-months and with good reason but for the best results I have found it is important to incorporate as many of the tools into your daily life as possible (and this can easily be done in my opinion). I still use the TEA form a few times a week whether I feel the need to or not, just to keep the skill current and on days I find... (6 replies)
... I've also been getting really tight and painfull shoulder and neck muscles recently. The pain even radiates down the arm and up the neck into the skull area. It's Not very nice, I have to keep making myself stop hunching my shoulders when I sit at my desk. (8 replies)
