... Hi all! It's been a while since I've been on the board & hope all is basically well with everyone. My son(age 19) has been going through a terrible time which only adds to my own angst. He has tried Paxil for anxiety/depression/OCD and had horrible side effects. The doc changed him to Celexa 2 wks ago after my telling his doctor that taking SSRI's don't agree with him. ... ... same but Klonopin is a much longer lasting version of Xanax. However many say the Xanax works better because it takes effect within 15 minutes so it can be used right before church and it would help you. The klonopin is a half day drug that would probbaly be taken once or twice daily, but does sometimes cause depression. ... (16 replies)

... Right. St. Johns Wort would replace your current meds if you were going to take it. It is a natural antidepressant and works on the seratonin level in your brain just like the other SSRI's do. It is more mild and doesn't have the side effects the SSRI's do though. For anxiety though Kava Kava and Valerian are the best. Just make sure you find a reputable herbalist to... (15 replies)

... Except for the side effects, you won't notice any sort of mental change or anything. SSRI's work over time, not right away. Also, if you start it then decide to stop, you should taper of of it by decreasing your dose over a few weeks. Don't quit "cold turkey". ... (5 replies)

... ow your BP ran low. In that case, I highly recommend Xanax as needed. I agree with you about the SSRI's...they always made me more anxious too. I do think the right doctor will give you a prescription for Xanax. I've found they'd rather have you take SSRI's or a tricyclic antidepressant like Elavil. ... (4 replies)
... SSRi's can induce mania, it's a known side effect. But IMHO, I don't agree with the theory that if one experiences that side effect, they surely must be a bipolar person. Not everyone has the same reaction to anything, prescription drugs included. Some people are just more sensitive to certain chemicals, why, even something as simple as food!! Remember that newstory not so... (5 replies)
... After years of drinking, pot smoking and getting away with it, now you are paying the price. I've heard alot of people just one day freak out from pot even if they didn't before, and it is well known that cognitive ability diminishs with pot over time. ... It's hard to keep everyone's story straight (my brain isn't what it used to be for sure), so I checked your other posts to see what med you are referring to...I see that it is Cipralex and we talked about that yesterday.
