I know my father-in-law had hyperparathyroid and I don't remember him having all these joint pains. But since you had a high sed rate and CRP despite short term treatment with Pred, I'd suspect some kind of inflammatory arthritis. Your calcium is slightly and a low RA Factor is no big deal. About 20% of all persons with rheumatoid arthritis never have a positive RA factor...including me.

So I'd see a rheymatologist and start getting on some good anti-inflammatories. There's some great new drugs out there that do amazing things.
