Aerosol propellants are NOT asthma-friendly by definition. Many people are sensitive to the propellants, and the spray itself is very fine particles that are inevitably breathed in to irritate the lungs, and then there's the perfumes in them. I'd say that if your wife is taking your asthma seriously, she'd quit using hair spray entirely because it is very VERY bad for your lungs. I can't be around any aerosol sprays at all unless they have a pump action.
