... Nope, it should definitely help you rather than hurt you. If you are afraid of negative side effects, just make sure you have your rescue inhaler nearby. For most asthmatics, taking your medicine is especially important while you are sick. ... (8 replies)

... No it should not make your congestion or your infection worse. Anytime you are taking a steroid there is always a slightly higher risk of getting sick. If you are that concerned about it you really should talk to someone at your Dr's office. If it was prescribed to you, then your Dr thought that the benefits outweighed any risks.
