Don't know what to do next. Please advise. I have had chronic back pain on my right side for 10 yrs. Had several shots for at one hospital for 4 yrs. A little relief. The pain management Dr. I used moved out of town to another hospital. I chose a spine and joint hospital next, with a very good and experience pain management Dr. He suggested have a spinal cord implant. It has worked very well for about 4 yrs. About 6 months ago the pain started on my left side. I went back to my pain management Dr. He suggested we do the 3 series lumbar steroids injections. The first one was fine and provided some relief. The second one I fell before I got in the car. They told me he got to close to a nerve and it happens all the time. After a while it produced a good amount of relief. The t hird procedure he put in b oth in my right and left side. The injections were extremely painful and current went down both my legs( a s it did on second injection). It offered some relief. A few days later my left side started having extremely sharp pain that I couldn't stand. Stayed up two nights with pain. Finally in the morning about 8:00 called up my pain management Dr. They said he was out of town and to go to their emerg. clinic. I did that. They said that it was inflamed. They did an x-ray that said my back had not change a whole lot since the last one I had yrs ago. They gave me a morphine shot which help a little, a script for steroids to take by mouth for 6 days (Methyiprednisolone) and to take my hydroc-apap7. 325mg every 4 hrs. They wanted me to follow up with the Dr. who had put in my spinal cord stimulator. They wrote it on the discharged papers. Not much relief since my visit to the emerg. Still waking up nights from the pain. Pain pill not working like they use to. A few days later I got a call from my pain management Dr. receptionist saying that the surgeon the put in my implant sent my records back to my pain . management Dr saying he was my Dr. not the surgeon. She said I called you because I thought It was up to the patient to decided. I said yes thank-you. I would like the surgeon second thought. She said I will send them back to the office. I haven't heard a thing from anyone again. Don't know what to do now as pain is not getting any better. Call the pain management Drs office to find out what happened to the surgeons office or just g.o back to my pc Dr. and get a totally new dia. The one I started out with yrs ago? 3-22-16
Finally got appointment from surgeon. He reviewed my files from ER and wants me to talk to his assistant. In meantime I have a appointment with pain management Dr. who my PC Dr.set me up with. So we will see......
