Hi Guys,
I am still trying to recover from a right L5/S1 radicular pain that started in february. My MRI showed symmetric broad based disc bulges L4/L5, L5/S1 with bilateral min/moderate neural foraminal narrowing. No specific nerve impingement though. I'm doing PT, Pilates, and acupuncture. I have been in the pool walking in the water. I'm dying to get back to some kind of cardio. I usually do spinning classes and run, but running has been out of the question. I haven't really tried spinning as its probably what got me into this mess in the first place. Overdoing it :(

So I decided to try to swim a bit. I got a swim snorkel so I don't have to rotate or extend to breath. I also got a pull bouy to put between my thighs so i don't have to kick much. I have been doing free style swimming. I tried a few laps (3-4 the other day and seemed okay). Then today I tried maybe 10 laps with 1-2 laps actually kicking without the bouy. I felt fine while doing it and to be honest i'm not sure if the swimming flared me up a bit or not. This thing has a mind of its own sometimes and I can't figure out what to blame when i feel more symptoms. I'm going nuts trying to figure out what i can do until i'm fully recovered.

What has your experience been with swimming? Thanks for the advice! I hope you are all doing well.
