Hi Jettsmom, I feel for you. I had a discectomy just over 7 weeks ago, and have had leg and/or foot pain almost all the time since then. It hasn't been severe, but then, I wasn't in much pain before surgery either. The S1 nerve root was so badly pinched off that it wasn't painful anymore. My doctor says that some pain is not unusual as the nerve heals itself. I don't know. It's hard to convince yourself that pain is a good sign. Like you, I have pain, pressure, and occasionally a burning sensation in my toes, whereas before surgery, I had none (just numbness). I'm best in the morning, and the sensations increase as long as I'm up. During my walk today, I developed a tiny but persistent shooting pain in the buttocks. That's a new one. When will it end? It's good you had another MRI and made plans to follow up with a neurologist. It's frustrating when you're in pain and you want answers, but the doctors can't give them to you. Hang in there, and let us know how you're doing.

Joel
