Hi Folks,

New here, but need advice very badly.

Had microdiscectomy/laminotomy on June 2nd after months of conservative treament. MRI showed herniated disc and l4/l5. OSS removed several loose fragments plus had some stenosis. Told my husband one fragment was pressing on a blood vessel. I could barely walk before surgery and was in severe pain with numbness and tingling in right hip, buttock and leg. No back pain at all.
I was able to walk upright without pain after surgery and up until yesterday when the pain in butt and leg returned. I am devastated to say the least. I have other health problems (myasthenia gravis) and this surgery was no picnic. I was so hoping this would at least relieve my symptoms by 50%. I would even trade the leg pain for some back pain.
Doc wants me to take 60 mgs pred a day for awhile, but due to my illness I can't go that high due to risk of breathing problems. I already take pred, but much smaller dosage. I increased it slightly today. It seems like it might be slightly better, not sure.
Just wanted to know if this is normal at all. Am I overreacting? If anyone can give me any advice or words of encouragement I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Paula
