Hi Chelley,

I'm so sorry to hear that the results weren't what you were looking for from the MRI :(
I have to agree with Linda, the discogram seems to be the answer for alot of us here, as far as seeing what may be causing the actual pain.
Because the second MRI came back normal, I'm not sure if your doctor will even be able to do the discogram. I have heard that others have been refused due to normal MRI results, but again, you can always fall back on the original MRI results. I think it actually has alot to do with the cost of the test, and how your insurance company approves this type of procedure.
Please ask one of the docs their opinion, I bet your current doctor can answer that over the phone.

What did he say happened to the bulges you had before ?
Do they go away in time ?

Now, if I were in your shoes, knowing me, especially since I traveled that same route (except no periformis injections) I would at least give the new injection a try, you won't know if they will help, until you try them. At least that way you can also rule things out, and maybe push for the discogram next.

Treating back pain is a very long and frustrating process, especially when we always hope to find relief, just to be disappointed again when we don't find it. It all gets so tiring in the end.
If you have the injections, of course I will be praying that they work, and that the pain is not too bad

Have you ever tried massage therapy vs. the PT route ?
I have heard many good outcomes from people here that used the massage therapy, maybe you can give it a try.
I always liked having it done, although they really work the muscles, it's not like one of those totally relaxing massages that we all crave :)

As far as resuming your activity, only you can answer that one. Try doing a little more at a time, and see how your body reacts, then you will have a better idea, especially if you can't wait for the 15th (I can't blame you there)

Please keep me updated, I will be back to check on you as soon as I can.

Be Well,

------------------
Two level laminectomy fusion L5-S1 & L2-3 done on 12/6/02.
I regret the day that I agreed to have this surgery.
Fifteen inch scar from the very top of butt crack (sorry), to the bra line.
BAK cages, rods & screws.(Titanium)
My pelvic bone was used for grafting.
Praying that the other two discs in between, won't have to be fused later, as I was told it was a possibility, due to the other two discs in between, not being in that great of shape.
Doc didn't want to fuse four levels, unless it is really necessary.
I would hate to repeat the surgery, as the recovery period, is so very painful.
I also have a free fragment in my T11-12 area, that I'm still refusing surgery for, at this point in time.
That surgery is way too dangerous for me to consider, until if affects my being able to walk.
